Scooter Security with the Steerling Lock
Most scooters offer some type of security. Even some newer models are providing alarms (be careful these will drain your battery fast). Most of the gas scooters made in the last 10+ years offer a steering wheel lock. It is important to always lock your scooter. With the popularity of scooters skyrocketing, there will be more and more thefts. Scooter Book recommends additional security such as locking the back wheel with some type of bike lock or even finding a pole, tree, or bike rack to secure your scooter too.
For those of you that have the Vento ZipR3i Scooters or similar and wish to learn how to enable the security steering lock, here is the procedure for going about that below.

To start off, the first thing we need to do is get ahold of the key the driver normally uses for starting the scooter:

Once you have your key, place it into the ignition switch located in front of you under the handles:

Once the key is in the ignition, before doing anythign else, push in the key; pay close attention to how far in you push the key (just as pictured below):

Now, holding the key down, move the steering handles toward your left. while doing this, half way through the rotation, start turning the key toward the left as well, you will feel a “clicking” sensation as you do this:

As the wheel is turned all the way, it will lock up to where it will not move; the key’s position should look like this:

Now, you can remove the key:

With the wheel locked, your scooter will look just like this:

Now, to unlock the steering wheel, reinsert the key into the ignition:

Now, push the key in and start turning both the key and steering handle bars at the same time towards the right:

Once you’re done, you’re back to your initial position as well as the wheel is now unlocked:

Practice this procedure for a couple of more times and you’ll be more than glad knowing your scooter will be much more protected when left unattended.
